Arkenberg, Rebecca. “Music in the Renaissance.” In Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History. New York: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2000–. www.metmuseum.org/toah/hd/renm/hd_renm.htm (October 2002).
This source was useful to me because it explained how the Renaissance changed the landscape of the music. It detailed how music was inspired by the classical era as a result of the rebirth of the Greek and Roman text, as well as how this new appreciation for music changed how it was composed and which instruments were being created. I used this source because Leonardo had a fascination in music, which was changed due to the Renaissance.
"Art And Patronage | Western Civilization." Courses.Lumenlearning.Com, 2019, www.courses.lumenlearning.com/suny-hccc-worldhistory/chapter/art-and-patronage/. Accessed 10 Jan 2019.
This source was valuable to me because it explained how literature changed during the Renaissance period. Although literature was not Leonardo da Vinci’s strongest suit, it was still impactful to the Renaissance as a whole because it incorporated themes and ideas from the Greek and Romans, which is why this quote helped me with the literature.
"Artists Of The High Renaissance: Leonardo." Radford.Edu, 2019, www.radford.edu/rbarris/art216upd2012/Raphael%20and%20Leonardo%20S11.html.
This source was useful to me because it gave me an overview on how influential Leonardo truly was to aspiring artists. In this source, I learned about how Leonardo and Michelangelo influenced Raphael Sanzio, and how Raphael was deeply interested in Leonardo’s “pyramid” style. With this source, I was able to explain how Leonardo made an impact of the world even after his death.
Dickson, Andrew. "Key Features Of Renaissance Culture." The British Library, 2018, www.bl.uk/shakespeare/articles/key-features-of-renaissance-culture. Accessed 11 Oct 2018.
This source helped me learn about the most important facts and events of the Renaissance. I learned the basics of what happened, as well as how it changed the environment of Europe. Through this source, I was able to show how Leonardo was directly assisted by the Renaissance opportunities that opened up to him, even though it did not mention how it actually affected him.
Durant, Will. The Renaissance. 1st ed., Simon And Schuster, 2018.
This source was incredibly valuable to me because I learned more about the Renaissance in this book than any other source I had available to me. I received a more in depth look at everything that happened in the Renaissance and why every aspect of the time period was influential to the making of the modern world. In addition to that, I learned the first deep insight to Leonardo in this book as it explained him as a Renaissance Man in heavy detail.
Haas, R. "Raphael's School of Athens: A Theorem in a Painting?," Journal of Humanistic Mathematics, Volume 2 Issue 2 (July 2012), pages 2-26. DOI: 10.5642/jhummath.201202.03. www.scholarship.claremont.edu/jhm/vol2/iss2/3
This source proved valuable to me because it explained how some of Raphael’s techniques were derived from the Signore da Vinci. I used this source so I could explain how Leonardo influenced Raphael, as well as how Raphael was able to use his own techniques like sfumato.

This source was one of many that gave me a further analysis into the life of Leonardo. This source was useful because it reinforced ideas that many of my sources have, which gives it evidence and a backbone in what the source was saying. Through this source, I was able to learn a more than basic understanding of Leonardo da Vinci.
Hooper, John. "Exhibits Mark 500 Years Of Leonardo Da Vinci, The Original Renaissance Man." WSJ, 2018, www.wsj.com/articles/ leonardo-da-vinci-the-original-renaissance-man-1540991320. Accessed 2 Nov 2018.
This source was useful to me because it was one of the first sources that described how Leonardo was the original Renaissance Man. Although this source was about the anniversary of 500 years after Leonardo, it still provided me with insight on how Leonardo embodied the Renaissance.
Isaacson, Walter. Leonardo Da Vinci. Simon & Schuster, 2019.
This source was by far the most useful source I had for my thesis. It provided me with everything I needed to know about Leonardo. It talked in significantly great depth about everything Leonardo did beyond art, such as engineering, anatomy, hydraulics, etc. On top of that, I learned far more about Leonardo’s artistic life than in any other source surprisingly. I learned about everything Leonardo did in his life, from attempting to divert the Arno river to setting birds free on an almost daily routine.

Along with many other sources I used on the Italian Renaissance, this one provided me with a greater than basic understanding on the Renaissance. Although it did not go into great detail on how the Renaissance changed so many things, it provided me with the sufficient knowledge of the Renaissance.
"Italian Renaissance." HISTORY, 2018, www.history.com/topics/renaissance/italian-renaissance. Accessed 11 Oct 2018.
Similar to the previous source, all this source did was solidify the knowledge I received from numerous other sources on the Renaissance.

"Leonardo Da Vinci." HISTORY, 2018, www.history.com/topics/renaissance/leonardo-da-vinci. Accessed 2 Nov 2018.
This source was useful because it gave me a somewhat deep insight into the life of Leonardo and how he was truly the Renaissance Man. There is not much to say for this source since it is similar to a few sources previous to this one.
Levitin, Daniel. "Review: There Will Never Be Another Like Leonardo." WSJ, 2018, www.wsj.com/articles/ review-there-will-never-be-another-like-leonardo-1507921089?mod=article_inline. Accessed 6 Nov 2018.
This source was useful because it provided me with the fact that Leonardo was more unique and fantastic than I had once believed. I learned that there will, in fact, not be another like Signore da Vinci because he was so intellectual and creative that no one will be able to match him in any of these regards. He was so skilled for his time that any person beyond that time could never do anything close to what Da Vinci accomplished.
"Literature In The Renaissance: Boundless World History." Courses.Lumenlearning.Com, 2019, www.courses.lumenlearning.com/boundless-worldhistory/ chapter/literature-in-the-renaissance/.

This source was only really useful in one case because it helped me to see Leonardo’s impact on art, and how he solidified himself as a masterful artist. The fact that his smile on the Mona Lisa took almost 500 years to finally solve is remarkable, so that is why I needed this source.
